Since taking early retirement from the St. Louis Symphony, Carol Wolowsky has enjoyed the pursuit of new opportunities. She especially appreciates those engagements that combine music with travel. Every year she spends a month in Turkey where she once taught a master class. In the summer she plays regularly in St. Louis, Missouri. In the Destin Florida area, where she presently resides, she is director and principal violinist of the Emerald Coast Chamber Ensemble. With Destin’s world famous beaches being such a popular destination, she is frequently engaged to play for weddings.
A more recent rewarding involvement has been teaching. She has a limited number of violin students.
“Teaching wasn’t something I had my heart set on, but now that I’ve been doing it for the past 5 years, I’ve discovered how rewarding it is to see the development and progress of my students. I’ve had such wonderful teachers, it’s a true joy to pass on what I’ve learned and to see it manifested through my students. I am very proud of them.” ~Carol Wolowsky
Recently two of Ms. Wolowsky’s students were selected as finalists in the concerto competition to appear with the Northwest Florida Symphony sponsored by the Northwest Florida Symphony Guild.
The mission of the Emerald Coast Chamber Ensemble is to present to the community some of the rich repertoire of chamber music literature. Some of the Emerald Coast’s finest musicians (often in combination with guest musicians from out of the area) are engaged for the performances. The combination depends on the instrumentation required by the composition. The ECCE is also available for private parties, soirees, banquets, etc. The programs can be tailored to the specific occasion.
